Sophia and Mellisha met in Brooklyn and immediately felt like they’d known each other for years. When it came to their wedding, the knew they wanted it to hold all of the feelings of the evening they first met—a small gathering of people they love, a warm, familiar space, glowing light, good music, lots of laughs, and a great time had by all. They were married in the church Sophia grew up in surrounded by loved ones. When it came to the details they hand-made as many things as they could themselves to give their wedding a homemade feel. They designed they’re own wedding programs and had whimsical DIY touches everywhere like a scene out of Alice in Wonderland with their reception at Upstairs on the Square. Katrina Hess www.katrinahess.com, Best of Boston Makeup Artist graciously offered a night of beauty to the women of the award winning The Catered Affair www.thecateredaffair.com, exclusive caterer of the Boston Public Library. It was a pleasure to photograph this “night of glamour”!

Good friend of Katrina and Master Hair Stylist and Colorist Priscilla Collins of The Modern Priscilla www.themodernpriscilla.com provided hair styling, Katrina and her staff did the makeup and facials, flowers were donated by Orly Kohn of Tangerine Creations www.tangerinecreations.com.

And as always Katrina has a lovely spread of Taittinger champagne and cheeses. The hors d’oeuvres were from local restaurant Bacco www.bacconorthend.com in the North End.

Alex and Martin’s Boston Public Library Wedding!

I was very eager to photograph Alex and Martin’s wedding. They are a lovely couple, both inside and out, and, photographically, they knew just what they wanted. The main ingredient was elegant black and white images. Even though I’m shooting digital now, my background is medium-format B&W. I was excited to shoot a wedding which called for lots of B&W in such a wonderful setting as the BPL.

In keeping with the library theme, Alex carried the Kate Spade Emma-book clutch, and the ring bearer carried a vintage George Washington book. She and Martin met on an elevator, so we added an image of them in the vintage Boston Public Library elevator.

Take a peek at the images. It was wonderful wedding…how could it not be with beautiful and scrumptious food by The Catered Affair and flowers by Winston Flowers…the list goes on. And most importantly. the wedding was a smashing success because of Alex and Martin and their families & friends!

Jaime and Eric’s Fenway Wedding

Eric is an avid sports fan, so when he got the idea to tie the knot at Fenway Park in Boston Jaime simply couldn’t say no. Good thing! The day was a classy combination of wedding and sports, and made for some great shots. Baseball fans rejoice!

The reception took place at the bride’s home in Manchester, MA.

Jennifer and Marshall’s Wedding – Cambridge Boathouse, Cambridge, MA

I think Jennifer, Marshall and I had the same feelings for each other when we met, I could not wait to photograph their wedding and they couldn’t wait for me to photograph them! As Jen says; “it was like reconnecting with an old friend.” I wanted to hang out, grab a beer!

Jen and Marshall wanted a their wedding to be a celebration as unique and non-traditional as they are; a big party that was a testament to their love, their family and friends. “We wanted it to be a night filled with music, laughter, food and love”.

Indeed it was – a friend from college performed the ceremony, the vows were their own and the band included the groom, his college friends, the bride’s uncle and her mother’s friend. AND THEY ROCKED!

I hope you enjoy the photographs, I certainly enjoyed making them – Jen in that fabulous dress and Marshall with this retro tie and fab suit, I was in heaven! Oh, and not long after they booked we discovered Jen’s uncle is a dear friend of mine; another “kismet” if you will. Thank you Jen and Marshall!

Finally, images from Turkey. What an amazing country. It was everything we expected and more. The people were lovely, so kind and gracious. No matter if we were in the city or out in the country it was nothing but kindness and smiles! The landscape of course was equally as lovely. Istanbul, a thriving ancient yet cosmopolitan city, Cappadocia, WOW – I always loved the Flintstones and I got to see where they lived! Seriously though, the history was astounding. We did the much recommended Balloon ride, stayed in a Cave Hotel and had our own Turkish bath! I hope you enjoy looking at the images.

What a wonderful wedding this was!! I met the groom TK when I was on the Local Cultural Arts Council here in Chelsea, a strong supporter of the arts! Melissa his lovely bride to be and I met over brunch at a local E.Boston eatery, 303 Cafe, www.303cafe.com. I immediately felt we were friends and I knew this was going to be a great wedding, a wonderfully, thoughtfully executed wedding.

When they found themselves engaged and in New England (native Ohioans), they decided to embrace it and planned a fantastic Salem, MA wedding: a harbor side lobster bake at the historic House of Seven Gables. In in order to spice things up a bit they decided to concentrate their efforts on a couple of details that completely paid off in the end. Generic maid-of-honor and best-man speeches were doctored into Mad Libs, and placed at each table. They were perfect icebreakers and made for some hilarious pictures of the guests.

Hello everyone, my first BLOG!! Welcome!

I’m very excited to start sharing some of my fine art work and of course my weddings and portraits! So here we go!

…So excited about my new project! I’ve been collecting antique cameras for years, they’re beautifully displayed in my loft but they deserve more! The project evolved last year from a portrait shoot that I did with Nisha Maxwell, Social Networking extraordinaire (http://tinyurl.com/yl5ek7j) and Veronica Robles http://www.veronicarobles.com/ Now all my studio portraits will get to choose a camera that best suits them…I’m intrigued how each subject seems to relate to the personalities of the cameras, I mean look at Bruce! He’s is my designer-you can see where the orange came from! His lovely wife Sarah is behind the Argus! Tomorrow I’m shooting Shiva, I just have just the camera in mind! I must go to bed!
